Anyone else unable to get the "non-yarn" costume with the smash yoshi? Does it have to be the mario series amiibo in NA?

Step 1.Go into level Step 2.Tap Mario/Smash Series Yoshi to Game Pad Step 3.Go back to amiibo Hut and it'll be playable.
