Seriously, Capcom? You're putting out GBA ports of SNES games that are already on the Virtual Console?
Put up some more arcade games, work out the licensing issues with your Disney NES/SNES games and release them (and while you're at it, UN Squadron), or just don't bother.

I loved buying and customizing ships, too. I named all of them after Japanese anime super-robots. You can even assign people to different departments on each ship in your fleet. There were dozens of characters to recruit. I haven't thought about that game in a long time, but it really was very ambitious for such a relatively obscure release. It did things that most RPGs wouldn't dream of.

Nice, I'll have to see if I can snag a decent-priced copy soon. My gaming budgeting's a bit tied up at the moment with Chibi-Robo and Legend of Legacy recently, Rodea the Sky Soldier and Stella Glow next month, and Xenoblade X in December, but I'll have more breathing room early next year, planning on Yo-kai Watch and Return to PoPoLoCrois then. Sounds great, at any rate. Sci-fi JRPGs are too-

-rare (Opoona ended up being an all-time favorite from last gen despite its imperfect translation), and Japanese space opera games are on a whole other level of rarity, and Infinite Space sounds fantastic. Reminds me a little bit of Skies of Arcadia and Suikoden in some respects there too with all the recruitable crew, and I loved those games. Definitely hoping we see some more totally out there,

completely unique games like that again in the coming years, considering the strong audience Nintendo's built for the JRPG audience in general. Plus platforms generally aimed at cheaper development, making it easier to take risks on things like that.

I've heard bad things about Legend of Legacy. Might not be worth buying. I've noticed there haven't been many regular RPGs on 3DS yet. Most of them seem to be 1st-person dungeon crawlers from Atlus or ports like Xenoblade and Tales of the Abyss. I've been enjoying Conception 2 quite a bit, but the randomly generated labyrinths are pretty dull.

I preordered it but haven't started it yet - it reminds me enough, at least, of the Makaitoushi SaGa/Final Fantasy Legend games of my childhood that I was intrigued, with much of the same talent behind it. Plus, the soundtrack and art design won me over. I'll see how I like it once I get into it, but I suspect I'll enjoy it. I know what you mean - I wasn't impressed by the Conception 2 demo, but-

-I'll probably buy it eventually, just because I'm trying to get a pretty comprehensive RPG library going for both the 3DS and U this gen. But yeah, I know what you mean - with no Dragon Quest localizations, the only real 3D old school style RPGs we've had, outside of a few VC releases like Sword of Hope II and such, have amounted to things like the Denpa Men games. Been hoping Genius Sonority'd-

-follow those with some more new old school RPG IPs, but they've been pretty happy with just doing more Denpa Men sequels as of late, with no sign of the free-to-play one in the west yet. They've definitely shown the talent for some more Mother/Dragon Quest/Opoona-esque game design that I'd love to see them built on. And after loving Opoona last gen, I've really wanted to see ArtePiazza create-

-some more new IPs like that too, considering that game was like the lovechild of Mother, Dragon Quest, and Phantasy Star with a touch of life sim elements and an incredible world and soundtrack. After enjoying Contact on the DS last gen, it's been a shame Audio Inc. hasn't been able to fund the 3DS RPG project in that style they've been wanting to do for years, too, for that matter.

Conception is on sale for $10 right now, if you don't mind digital versions of games. I recommend it. It's another not-for-everyone game, but I really like the characters. Contact is great. I finally went back and finished it recently after having given up halfway through when it first came out.

I saw that. I'll probably pass for a retail copy, as I tend to try to go for those when possible - managed to preorder One Piece: Romance Dawn last year for one of its very limited run retail copies - but since it's not too pricey at retail, I'll get Conception 2 that way yet. Nice! I ended up getting out of it for a while by the endgame castle, but once I did enough grinding there, I blew-

-right through the endgame pretty quickly and easily. Some of the bigger enemies in the castle, as I recall, made for very effective grinding that made the final bosses a piece of cake. Great finale, though, with some truly fantastic music. I know Audio Inc.'s helped Genius Sonority some with the Denpa Men games, but I haven't seen much from them otherwise, though I've spoken to Akira Ueda briefly

through YouTube comments on some of his music there the other year, where he made it clear he was still very interested in making some big 3DS sci-fi RPGs in the gameplay and visual vein of Contact. The music he's posted has been pretty fantastic, too. I saw that, I'm looking forward to that and the Yo-kai Watch demo when I get to the eShop soon. I always enjoyed Imageepoch's games, from Luminous

Arc to Arc Rise Fantasia, which was pretty underrated and good overall, though Ignition's localization was a lot messier than XSeed's would've been. Rather a shame they went under earlier this year, though I'm hoping Nintendo might pick up some of their staff in time to give them a new home - they can always use more RPG talent as is, much as they already have - given that they assisted on Yoshi's

I think I gave up on Contact in that mall. I was severely under-leveled, and I remember being annoyed that I was going to have to somehow tank one of the reputation stats to get one of the girls. When I played again last year, I took more time to grind and got through it pretty easily.

Yeah, Contact was one that took some patience and a good bit of grinding to get through. Along with whatever decent equipment you could find along the way. I really liked its almost Mother-esque humor and sensibilities, though, and that sort of almost sandbox aspect it had with the much deeper stat and skill aspects. Definitely hoping Audio gets to make more games like it yet.
