    There's somthing similar that happened to me. I was Vegeta (Base) against Majin Buu (Fat). Right when I was about to finish my 5 Weak Attack combo (or YYYYY combo), Buu somehow blocked and the camera was still close up. After I did 2 attacks to him, I jumped and I froze in the air, then Buu hit me with a Strong Attack, and I slid off the screen. After about 30 seconds BUU froze in the air.

    Occasionally, while I had absolutely no control over Vegeta, I saw him move around frozen.
