I used to ignore Renault, but he is better/worse than Lucius in many ways. He lacks Mag and Res (which Lucius usually caps). However, Renault has more than twice the Def that Lucius ever has. Plus, Renault has +40 HP. I've never seen a Lucius with more than 38 HP.

He also appears as a playable unit for 4 chapters. Lucius is a better unit just due to how long you have him.

I also have major bias towards Lucy, so Renault is worthless to me.
