So, now that we have confirmation that Link will be able to wield at least one two handed sword in Zelda 2016, do you guys think that he'll also be able to properly block enemy attacks with his sword? I would love to have the option to go without a shield and still have some defense.

  • Thats a great question tbh

  • Well, to be fair, you can just as easily parry attacks with a one-handed sword, and in most of the artwork I've seen, the Master Sword looks at least to be a hand and a half. Still, I'd love to see a massive overhaul of the swordplay, especially when fighting other enemies who wield melee weapons of a similar type.

  • I know, it's actually easier to parry attacks with a single handed sword. But I meant now that we've seen Link carrying a double handed sword, that confirms sword only fighting styles, and I was wondering if they were going to expand on that, like you said. And yes, I want there to be enemies that you can actually sword fight with.

  • Yes, but the Great Fairy and Biggoron swords were two-handed as well, so a two-handed sword with no context doesn't really mean anything.

  • I know, Chris. I was speculating. Except when I said that it confirms shieldless fighting styles, 'cause that is still confirmed, even if it is only with two handed weapons.

  • Yeah, I get what you're saying. I'm just really leery about speculation in general. I've been burned a lot. I find it generally easier to keep my expectations as low as possible. :)

  • Oh, I speculate the heck out of anything, but I try and keep it realistic, and I really only view it as nice bonuses. I never expect anything I speculate on to actually be in a game, but if it is, it's always a nice surprise. Lol
