Last post of the day: Would you have liked SSB4 as much as you do (in case you're someone who liked it) if it hadn't gotten any DLC at all? I rarely use the DLC characters and stages I have so its absence wouldn't have changed how I feel about the game.

  • I would. I'll be honest smash 4 isn't my favorite Smash game, but the Dlc made it better. Some of my favorite veterans and newcomer. and best stages around.

  • The problem with the DLC characters for me is that none of them are new and all but two are clones. So far, Ryu is the only one I found interesting. Its the same thing with stages, outside of the Super Mario Maker stage, they're all stages I've seen before. SSB4 feels complete without any of that on its own.

There have been too many Mii costumes for my liking and they haven't done a whole lot of new stuff with it, the price is also a bit expensive. Ryu is my favourite character to play as though, and I'm glad to see Lucas back so I don't completely object to it either. We need more new content, maybe then it could make enough of an impact. I'll reserve my judgment until DLC support gets cut.

  • Funny that I got SSB4 last year. Kinda hated it at first because of the controls, but I accepted it & now a year later, I'll still play it as I did when I first bought it. Frankly, I'm not wild about all that DLC even with the SMM stage.

    Yeahs1
  • Definitely. The DLC's nice, but I could live without it. Most of what it does is limited to "stops the fan base from whining about a certain character", though I do like playing as Mewtwo, Roy, and Ryu. (I also like playing as Lucas. I know this, despite not getting him, because he's a Ness clone. :U)

  • I have all the dlc released thus far, and can I say I like it either way.

  • Almost. I really like Mewtwo

  • I probably would still like SSB4 even if it didn't get DLC. What I do like about the DLC is that it still keeps me interested in SSB4. I probably wouldn't be playing it much if it wasn't for the prospect of DLC keeping it fresh for me.

  • I would dare say that DLC as a whole is what is keeping the WiiU alive. Major releases like Mario Kart 8, SSB4 and Splatoon have been great successful but its clear that they need DLC to retain the attention of people. As for the SSB4 DLC, the one I'm start to dislike are the Mii FIghter costumes. They sounded good at first but they're starting to get more and more ridiculous.

  • I don't know what you're BusinessSuitCostumes talking about.

    Yeahs2
  • wouldn't mind the miis if they weren't added every single time, costed so much, and were released in smaller numbers. Maybe also not release ones that don't need to be, like the monkey suit.

  • The worst ones are the costumes based on characters that are already in the game and the costumes of characters whose unique abilities aren't based on brawling, swordsmanship or shooting.

  • I still hate that King K. Rool Mii Fighter costume with a burning passion.

  • I hope its a red herring, King K Rool doesn't deserve being thrown away and turned into a costume. Which reminds me of another costume type I hate, the costumes that are based on things that aren't human or look human at least. That Isabelle costume looks hideous.

    Yeahs2
  • The isabelle, one is fine. to me. same with the k rool one. the worst is the samus a captain falcon ones. they are ripped straight from the actual character, and half the costume is already in the game.

  • I agree. What makes this even more ridiculous is that the Mii Fighter costumes have very limited use so essentially they're selling us a product that we can't use in every mode in the game. At least the DLC characters and stages can be used everywhere in the game.

I was particularly annoyed when they randomly released a bunch of Mii costumes after an update drought. Maybe there was a stage in there, but it just came out of nowhere and noone asked for it. And that was the only Smash related update for months, nothing about anything else happening.

    Yeahs1
  • I get that they need to make updates to make the game more balanced but they don't have to use that as an opportunity to sell us more and more DLC. They should just follow the quality over quantity method.

    Yeahs3
  • Worst of all, Sakurai claims all his DLC is fair. none of it is really, considering prices.

I have a feeling Nintendo are forcing Sakurai to add the costumes in exchange for being able to work on the game mpre, I mean, I doubt he himself has any involvement in them but it just seems like they want to squeeze as much money from us as possible. Also, the prices are bad and the bundles are extortionate, you don't even save any money.
