Okay, I was wrong, this mini-game employs a lot more finesse than I originally gave it credit for. Use a heavy character on the final round--Sahara works well so do the elephants. You need to burst through those balloons just so you can get to the island. Conversely, light characters work better on the first round so you can maximize your balloon popping time.
