    Nino is rather... Well, awesome in a run where you don't care about your rating but in a run where you do care about your rating, Pent and/or Erk are much better with Pent being the best because of the "Funds" rank and due to being a Sage right off the bat. Nino can be tough to train on some rare occasions also but can destroy stuff in the end.. Just like she may have destroyed the "Tactics" rank.

    ^ Her problem is that she can't do anything unique when trained up, though. If you put in that same amount of effort into just about any other unpromoted unit, you get the same results as you would from training Nino. You'll also get those results earlier, since such training can be done at an earlier time.

    Imagine if, rather than spending 100 turns grinding Nino in Night of Farewells, you spent 100 turns grinding Erk in False Friends instead. Erk is much better (relative to the enemies), for much longer (relative to Nino).

    FE7 also has weak enemies on the whole, so there is very little value to having stats that exceed a certain threshold. Any statistical advantage that Nino has over, say, Pent is irrelevant 99% of the time.

    Bases > Growths Nino isn't that great compared to Pent or Erk, because they have bases that fit when they join. This doesn't mean you still can't like her, but that's why some people don't. I mean, I like Nino, and other Ests too! (e.x. Ewan)
