Mable, Sable, and Labelle's parents died when they were very young, and Sable had to bear the burden of raising her younger sisters. That responsibility weighed heavily on Sable, which is why she is so quiet. Labelle struggled with the loss and fled to the city to try to make it on her own. Sable and Mable stayed behind and opened a small store. Mabel ran the shop as a way of bearing the burden...

...Sable had carried for so long. Labelle competed with Gracie in the city, but struggled to make it. Her pride prevented her from going home. She was also afraid that her sisters wouldn't take her back. Ultimately, she couldn't keep afloat in the city. She swallowed her pride and went home, where her sisters welcomed her with open arms. They even helped her set up her own shop in town.
