    How about a Riolu and a Pikachu? It's your choice though. (Is that the way you spell them?)

    In my experience, riolu hasn't had any major type advantages yet. Try a water for the main character, as most dungeons have water. as for the partner, fire would seem to work as I have seen many steel, but not many rock or ground type pokemon. Fennekin would probably fit the partners personality, as they are kinda goofy. I chose riolu as my character and also goofy froakie as my partner.

    Riolu has a big advantage at the final two boss fights if you have the focus blast tm
