I'm actually somewhat surprised I've gotten this far. There has already been a few occasions where my units have cheated death thanks to RNG. Sain and Kent also nearly died of poison in the previous chapter because I didn't think to bring any Vulenraries or Serra!

No, I just inadvertently neglected to bring any healing items, and I had too much faith in evasion. I am trying to go for a higher tactics and funds score though, but it's costing me in exp since I'm using Marcus and skipping the extra chapters.

Isn't EHM much easier than HHM? I've heard as such, but I haven't played EHM before. It makes sense seeing as Hard Mode bonuses aren't present in EHM (from what I've heard).

It might be, in which case I'm in trouble. To be fair though, I should be much better by then (this will only be my second complete Hard Mode playthrough in the FE series after all) and I'm thinking that the characters I'm considering using in HHM will be better than the ones I'm currently using in EHM.

Who are you using in EHM, then? And just some advice, but skipping gaidens isn't exactly the best idea considering your units will have to be pretty powerful in order to compete with the enemy.

I was kind of hoping that skipping them would improve tactics, which it is, but it's at the cost of exp. I decided to use Sain, Kent, Wil, Rebecca, Wallace, Heath, and Vaida. They may not be as bad of choices as I think, but I was sturggling a bit more than expected at the beginning and Oswin was doing extremely well while defending Merlinus, despite the fact that I won't truly use him until HHM.

That seems like a pretty good team, barring Vaida (she comes in too late to be actually useful). Why not use both Wallace and Oswin on your playthrough of HHM? Their both extremely good tanks. Or maybe just Oswin and Sain and Kent? Wil and Rebecca make a good team as well.

I'm glad to hear that my character choices weren't as debatable as I thought. My ulimate goal with my Eliwood and Hector HM playthroughs is to use the characters that I haven't used before. For HHM, I'm thinking about using: Oswin, Jaffar, Legault, Karel, and Karla. I'm not sure who else I want, but I'm thinking Lowen and Raven since I actually haven't used them yet.

I'd go for all of the support conversations well, but that would take too long. Besides, I also need to wrap up Erika HM in Sacred Stones. I'm also thinking that Awakening and Fates, when it is released, will both be a good rent if they don't come down in value.

Would Canas be a good choice? I haven't used him now that I think about it, or any Dark Mage/Shaman for that matter.

Well, luna wrecks most bosses. Yeah, Canas isn't bad. Beefier then most magic users.

Canas has to be better than Renault anyway. To be fair though, Renault does come in one chapter from the end, and towards the end of a chapter at that, so that doesn't help things.

Renault's only purpose is to have a great backstory and nothing else.

At least he joins you in Eliwood mode and doesn't require you to raise a character many consider not good.

Well, Bartre is decent...though Gietz is pretty good as well. And I think the reason they gave him such horrible magic because if he had good magic he would be able to reach Kishuna with a status staff and it's heavily implied that Kishuna is Renault friend and they most likely wanted to keep it a little more mysterious. That's what I think anyway.

Hmm, that is interesting about Legault and Kishuna. Bartre and Dorcas actually served me pretty well in HNM.
