    ^ Err... No. Oswin has to compete for a Knight's Crest, which has 2 to 3 better candidates because of Oswin's class. His MOV discourages using him as a long-term unit. And his 16 CON means that only Rath and a promoted Eliwood can rescue him. Marcus's only disadvantage is his growths, which are still good enough to allow him to remain usable through the game.

    Marcus can also use more weapons than Oswin can at base, and has movement beaten only by promoted flyers because he still has terrain restrictions. He can also ORKO many enemies in the earlygame because his bases are amazing. And his promoted status means that he doesn't have to take a promotion item from other units.

    If you're looking to play through the game as quickly as possible, you just can't do that without Marcus. That's just how essential he is.
