What does the speed stat even do in this game? Turns just seem to happen in a fixed order.

    Some moves have functions based on your speed, like for example Electro Ball does more damage if you're faster than the enemy.

    No it affects how many attacks hit and if the enemy has higher speed they are more likely to hit and you will be more likely to miss.
