I've actually been wondering this since my last playthrough, but theoretically, who would be Lilina's mother based on this quote? I'm somewhat thinking Farina, but this is just a guess.

That movement gap doesn't exist for Roy/Lilina and Hector/Lyn, because they have similar movement ranges throughout their screentime.

I wouldn't exactly call Rath and Lyn's relationship "platonic", but their interactions aren't that romantic. Though, their interactions during the main story might not be as "romantic" as Hector and Lyn's, they do seem to act different around each other, while Hector and Lyn talk normally around each other. It might not seem like anything, but normal friends don't speak to each other like that.

As someone who always pairs Lyn with Eliwood, I can safely say it is very simple to have them to A before Rath rejoins. As for inheritance purposes, I don't think that would work in Elibe's structure, seeing as all of the supposed Gen 2 are worse stat wise than their parents.

The concept of "feeling safe" and "protection" appears generally a lot in most typical canon pairings such as Klein and Thite, Nino and Jaffar, Erk and Serra, (This is debatable) Roy and Lilina, and even in Sacred Stones with Ephraim and Tana as well as perhaps Eirika and Seth. Admittedly, this does also appear somewhat in non-canon pairings.

Concerning movement gaps, you do bring up a good point. However, this would mean that likely canon pairings such as Thite and Klein, Dieck and Shanny, Ephraim and Tana, Eirika and Seth, and others would be voided. I do agree on the matter that this does appear in non-canon pairings (Ephraim and La'Arachel, Roy and Cecila, and Eliwood and Fiora).

^ Ephraim/Tana: Tana shows obvious affection to Ephraim even without supports, and Innes' clearly states in some supports that he does not want Tana to be with Ephraim. Roy/Lilina: Anyone who knows Binding Blade well enough should know why this is canon. Eirika/Seth: As well as following the FE archetype (which typically occurs but not all of the time) of a Lord falling in love with a knight..

Since when is Lord x Knight an archetype? even if you're really cutting hairs Chrom x Sumia is the only other example. there's a difference from implied (Roy x Lillina) and canon (Marth x Caeda)

The ONLY canon pairs in the series are MarthxCaeda, PentxLouise, EnaxRajaion, and whatever FE5 confirms as canon for FE4 [It's been a while since I've played FE5] Pro tip mate: if the player has more than one option on who a player ends up with, there isn't a canon pairing for them.

I don't see how Deke/Shanna is hinted at in any way. But the others are fast enough to get away with a support level. Eirika/Seth for starters is even the strongest pairing in FE8, so there's that. Not to mention, the Renais twins both get hoses upon promotion.

When I state canon I mean pairs that are most likely (as well as actual canon pairs), although I will admit that I've been stretching the meaning a bit. @Jason Seth and Eirika's supports are far from platonic. "You held me tight, keeping me safe from the enemy's blades... Perhaps...I did feel something more for you then." This is obvious enough.

@Al Dieck and Shanna both join at the same time, are in the same group, and supports for them exist in the first place. It's somewhat the most evidence for any relationship Dieck could have, not to mention these are traits common in most implied pairings (such as Serra and Erk, minus the fact that Erk is Serra's escort).

then I guess every pair in Awakening is canon because they propose in their S-supports. and woaj 2 lords (kamui doesn't count they can marry anyone) happen to be able to marry knights its an archetype guys by that logic, Lord x Dancer is an archetype because of Roy x Lalum and Chrom x Olivia

^^ I do concede there was an error in my logic, although I will state that Lord X Knight is most likely not a coincidence, given the fact that Royals having a romantic relationship with their Knights or Guards is actually a fictional concept most likely referenced, similar to how Sain was a reference to the concept of Knights having eyes for ladies and being romantic.
