    Only certain amiibo will unlock special designs. Some amiibo, like the Pokémon amiibo, will only yield the amiibo Yoshi you have there.

    Right, but it's not just limited to the Pokémon amiibo is what I'm saying. I recall seeing an interview somewhere recently where the developers said they something like they looked at each amiibo in terms of designs for Yoshi. Those that just didn't work would then unlock the amiibo Yoshi design in the final game.

    @Tim: I know what you were trying to say. Heck, I even knew that the Chibi Robo amiibo isn't compatible with this game, which is why I didn't buy it. I just didn't expect the same to happen with the Animal Crossing ones.

    Animal Crossing ones are a different situation than the Pokemon. Animal Crossing amiibo figures were only announced a few weeks before this came out in Japan & Europe. Obviously Nintendo employees might know about those planned amiibo earlier, but the game was likely complete by then. It's very unlikely there will be a patch to add new amiibo costumes unless there's some kind of major update.

    I'm kinda glad though cause I decided not to buy Animal Crossing cards or figures for the sake of my wallet. And those games didn't look good. I own way too many amiibo, and I'm glad the Smash line is almost over :p

    The reason why the Pokemon amiibo's don't yield costumes is because Pokemon Company is very strict with usage of their IP's

    They could come later as an update, MK8 didn't even have Amiibo support until later and then characters like PAC Man and Olimar were added much later
