What do you all think of Twilight Princess HD? I was not extremely impressed with it when I watched the Nintendo Direct. I thought the graphics weren't much of an improvement. What I do like is that the game is more like the GameCube version in that it's not mirrored. Comment what you think.

  • Well, it was only ever meant to be a remaster, and not a remake, so I was never expecting much from it. Now while I do think the graphics update is nice compared to the original release, I'm more excited about the gameplay changes they're going to be making that they have yet to announce.

  • I think they're could be some improvements, but small details in the background are better than the original.

    Yeahs1
  • it has new amiibo and despite owning the old one whould be fun to get the hd version

    Yeahs2
  • Considering that it was already made for GameCube and wii, a direct port or remaster is kinda pointless. Graphical upgrades, amiibo support and so on are just minor tweaks for a game better off on virtual console.

  • It does seem somewhat pointless, but then again, I've never owned Twilight Princess so it'll be a good opportunity for me to get it. I did notice the graphical changes but I still think they could have done better. To me it almost seems like an attempt to hold over Zelda fans while they wait for Zelda U to come out. It's as if they're apologizing for the delayed release of the new game.

  • I too would like to see what they update in terms of gameplay.

  • It certainly looks much brighter

  • My biggest disappointment was that it was TP. I hate TP.

  • TP?

  • I'm really excited! It has the most realistic graphics of a Zelda game and the biggest World map of any Zelda game. It looks really good and I'm glad it's getting an hd version because wii games look bad and pixelly on an hd tv (metroid other m still looks good though).

    Yeahs1
  • TP = Twilight Princess. And yes, that's exactly what it is, Colinito. It's just meant to hold us over until Zelda U comes out, since they originally promised we would have it by now. But it's also because of the 30th Anniversary of Zelda, and the 10th Anniversary of Twilight Princess. So there are several reasons. :P

  • Although it still doesn't change the fact that "to hold fans over", a vc rerelease would be enough. A slight tweak in graphics and added amiibo support is nor worth full price.

    Yeahs1
  • There could be tons of new better controls. We only saw a trailer so we don't know thats the only changes

    Yeahs0
  • It's a zelda port, duckww. They have always been lazy. I think it's safe to assume how it will turn out.

  • If you look at the GC and HD footage side by side, there is a massive difference. The problem is that even with a texture up-res, it still looks dated as they haven't done anything with the polygons. I don't care too much about graphics though. I just want them to fix all the gameplay issues dotted about (which I cbb to list as I've already ranted about it before). lol

Im not too pleased with just an upgrade in res, the games large world and open atmosphere has the potential to be amazing, but looking at the trailer the graphics barely changed. It still looks super pixilated (watch gamexplain's comparison video, theres not much different. I do want to know what gameplay they changed but i just feel that this is a missed opportunity to make a great looking game.

To be honest, the graphics look more polished than HD to me. I do definitely see marked improvement though graphic-wise. To me, TP:HD will probably be a completely different game, since i've played the Wii version and the remake is based off the Gamecube version. So i'll be looking at everything in the opposite direction. The game looks alright, glad they're remaking a great game though.

    Yeahs0
  • Wow, ten years already? I remember when that game was new! And all that time I never bought it. I'm definitely excited to play through it finally. I wonder if they will expand the game more by adding new dungeons and quests.

    Yeahs0
  • VERY unlikely. Like we said, the only changes they're probably gonna make are textures, lighting and controls. However, they probably will also add a Master Quest/Hero Mode, so that'll be good too. And to everyone saying it doesn't look like it's in HD, they already confirmed it will run at 1080p, so yes, it qualifies as HD. Lol

    Yeahs0
  • In other words, still not enough to warrant another version. It will still be a dissapointmemt.
