What's the point of the speed stat?

So I'm a stat booster junkie. It's super nice having mega powerful teammates. So... Is there any point to increasing speed? What game mechanics does it affect? Has anyone figured out if speed has any real weight in comparison to the other stats? Until I complete this game wun-hundo, I ain't plannin to waste sparklies on pointless stats. Thanks!

  • Is that it? Would you say the stat is powerful enough to bother focusing on? I'm the guy who's invested in stats at 230+. You got any opinions on speed vs def/sdef? Any in-depth thoughts would be appreciated!

  • ^ What that guy said. Faster speed = Higher dodge rate, Greater hit chance Slower speed = Lower dodge rate, Higher miss chance (unless its a "Sure shot" move)

  • Speed stat determines your Accuracy (how easy it is to land attacks on opponents) and your Evasiveness (how easy it is to dodge attacks coming from enemies), it is a very useful stat to invest in.

  • Speed. Speed is great. It gets really annoying if your opponents keep hitting you and you miss.

  • Speed may also play a part in how critical hit chance is calculated, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

  • it would probably be good to give it some attention because, yeah always getting hit isn't a good thing.

  • Oh wow. I didn't know it affected all that. I just thought it was for Moves like Electro Ball and Gyro Ball.

  • Much appreciated, folks! I'll consider spiking up one of my main mons with carbos at some point! @Roman - someone clearly answered you in a previous post of yours, fella. If ya feel like asking the same question over again, you'll get a better net just reposting the question to the community again.
