How to use items?

I have speed shoes and shields but no clue how to use them.

    its on the game pad during the level! just touch the wallet icon in the lower right corner. then, press the bonus you want to use

    In a level you look at the bottom right of the screen and you should see a wallet thing so you tap on it and a list of all of your items should come up and you tap on the item you want to use.
