Evolution?

I've made it to the Submerged cave. I'm level 24, and a Squirtle, and haven't evolved yet. Is it possible at this point?

Evolution for most Pokémon is not possible until after the credits roll. Go to a certain area, and choose which Pokémon (provided it's reached the required level if there is one; no other main series requirements matter). Player/partner evolution is not possible until after you complete the post-game story (if it's like GtI, the game will tell you when you can do so). (continued...)

(continued) Pokémon with major roles in the story and towns (Goomy, Meowth, etc.) cannot evolve, though you can connect with their evolved forms.
