    I guess they just couldn't translate it, so they simply romanized it and moved on.

    I believe it's supposed to be Japanese onomatopoeia for the sound of knocking on a door, something that makes absolutely no sense when left untranslated in English. Guess it sounds like a password untranslated, I suppose.
