Which game is better? Pokemon Alpha Sapphire or this game?

I have enough money to buy one of them but I can't decide. Do I need to buy Gates to Infinity to understand this game's plot? Which game has a better plot? Which game has a longer story mode? Which game is more entertaining? Which game is better?
