Minecraft Noob

I've been aware of this game for a while, and have watched videos on Youtube of people playing it, but I have never played it myself. I'm looking for tips and tricks for starting out. Can anyone help me get started?

    If this Minecraft is any similar to the other console variants, you might be introduced to a tutorial world. I'd suggest you take that if you want to take your first steps on getting instructions on how to play.

    Haha, I've seen some Minecraft videos where they run into lava, so I at least know to exercise some caution when it comes to digging.
