Iwata was the only reason earthbound came to NA

With Iwata gone hope for this game coming to the rest of the world is dead.

  • Dont worry, i believe theres always hope, itoi is too awesome for that, iwata wont be forgoten, we will do this because us fans will never give up

    Yeahs5
  • But itoi's moved on.He regards the mother series as something he did in his life.Hes gone on and done other things.Iwata most likely had some pull in bringing Earthbound to VC.He did code the vast majority of EB in the first place.Im highly skeptical of a localized M3 by Nintendo. We tried once before. And im sure Ninty are aware of all of that.

    Yeahs0
  • As I have said in recent months, MOTHER 3 will come out. At this point, it's not a question of if, but when.

    Yeahs4
  • Also, Itoi hasn't necessarily moved on from MOTHER. He may not be making any more games, but his company still produces MOTHER merchandise, like the Hobonichi Techo planner covers. He even recently hosted a MOTHER event in Japan. Check out EarthBound Central for information about that. They plan to make more MOTHER related merch in the future.

    Yeahs4
  • @Samuel That MOTHER event does sound exciting. And I believe Reggie when he said he likes the MOTHER series, I sure he wants MOTHER 3 re-released as much as we do. And besides, why make a Robot Chicken sketch about him not releasing the game?

    Yeahs1
  • in an latest interview with Shigesato Itoi(11/25/2015),Shigesato Itoi said that probally theres a possibility that they would release Mother 3 to the West.

    Yeahs4
  • I still see it as a maybe. If it comes out,Yay.If not, just use the internet.

    Yeahs0
  • @lucas can you send me the link to that interview

    Yeahs0
  • killer5, the reason why we didn't get mother 3 on gba was because it was a late gba release

    Yeahs1
  • No....the fan outcry for EB was the reason.

    Yeahs1
  • It was indeed a late GBA release. That, coupled with the fact that EarthBound was still quite niche at the time where the main reasons why it never came out. Times are different now, with the series getting much more exposure. These are great times we are living in.

    Yeahs4
  • so, same reason Earthbound Zero didn't come out back then?

    Yeahs0
  • Also, didn't the "Economic Success" of Earthbound first time round , contribute to M3 not getting a NA release? That ad campaign STINKS! ... See what i did there?

    Yeahs2
  • EarthBound Beginnings release was hindered by the SNES, as you have inferred. It was also hindered by high cost of materials to make the cartridges and the fact that RPGs were extremely unpopular in North America. And yes, EarthBound sales did contribute to MOTHER 3 not getting a release here.

    Yeahs0
  • But now, the EarthBound series is a bestseller in the US on Virtual Console. Nintendo knows this, and Reggie has stated that it was because of the popularity of EarthBound that EarthBound Beginnings got onto Virtual Console. I now believe that Nintendo and it's Treehouse are taking the next steps.

    Yeahs1
  • it was brought here from fan demand.

    Yeahs1
  • It was indeed.

    Yeahs0
  • release mother 3 to USA!

    Yeahs0
