Not going to lie: EoS isn't as good as SMD

I got Explorers of Sky thinking I'd like it just as much as Super Mystery Dungeon. Turns out I was wrong :/ Everything in EoS feels rushed. You create a new profile, start the game and then before you realize it you're in a guild going on missions. I liked SMD; things are slower paced, and idk how to describe it .-.

I'm probably judging the game too quickly, so hopefully I'll end up really liking the game.

  • Oh if you aren't finished then ya you'll like it more XD this "rush" you're feeling May last a bit but that game is long and it doesn't even end after the credits role

  • Yeah, I really hope I end up enjoying the game I say it's rushed because u just meet your partner in EoS and then a few minutes later you've already joined the Expedition Society and have your own team. Meanwhile in SMD it's kind of a slow introduction while you meet Nuzleaf then go to school. Then after school has ended you join the expedition society. Yeah, I guess I jusy liked slow-paced games

  • I haven't finished the game, so I haven't formed a full opinion, but from what I can tell, PSMD tries to emulate EoS. Its really apparent that the Exploration Society parallels the guild, with the outings and dinner scenes, but with less charm. They feel like they're there just because EoS/T/D had them. Its still plenty of fun, though, and I love all the references it makes. :]

  • Believe or not a lot of people think that the first middle part of SMD is too slow-paced while the rest is too fast. EoS is just right IMO as it's literally the same with the rest of the series (excluding SMD).

  • I agree: SMD was slow in the beginning but then it went by quickly once you joined the Expedition Society. Anyways, I know I've said it before but I'm only in the first 30 to 60 minutes of the game. I'm probably judging EoS too quickly. Gates to Infinity was going to be the first PMD game I ever played, but I heard it was terrible so I chose not to.

  • EoS and SMD are actually very similar. I actually prefer the fast-paced beginning of EoS over SMD's since i'm very familiar with the series, but both feel really well done.

  • Maybe but I shall tell you that EoS even with it's minirushy events, it does has an excelent Story, and if you get too involved with the characters and their adventure, believe me, you'll drop a tear :)
