    You'll find that a lot in the game. It's due to the fact that in the original Japanese you can write these things without pronouns. Technically, in English, "he"/"him" are supposed to be used as gender-neutral or for an unknown/unspecified gender, but we're unused to seeing it that way so it seems awkward.
