Actual continuity to the previous games? I thought each PMD game took place in a different world as the games NEVER reference the earlier titles. Here's hoping I run into Wigglytuff here "Yooom-Cha!"

Indeed they never reference the previous games, as far as I know. I'm also waiting for Guildmaster Wigglytuff to magically appear, especially after I saw Corphish's dialogue. Also, it's Yooooom-TAH!

I read somewhere, that you can recruit teams from previous games as hidden characters including Team ACT (from Rescue Team) Team Charm, Team AWD, Team Razor Wind, Team Raider, Team Skull, and Team Tasty (from Explorers) Though whether that's true or a rumour I don't know.

I think it's true mainly because you can recruit every Pokemon(I think there are extra recruitment spots above 720 as well) and you can talk to the Pokemon mentioned and partially connect to them.

And Gallade introduced Rhyperior as well. So yes, you can recruit the teams from previous games.
