As it turns out, I was wrong about the normal data probe mechanics not applying to storage probes. Through some clever probe placement, I managed to get 54,000 miranium storage out of only six storage probes, using a Duplicator probe, a Booster I probe, and a Booster II probe. (For the uninitiated, that's triple the usual amount.)
