Just realized: Smash now has 3 Super Saiyans.

Pikachu*=Goku (youthful, friendly) Sonic=Vegeta (cocky, destructive) Cloud=Trunks (wields a sword, emo, pretty boy) *Hey, if Sonic's spines count as "spiky hair", then by the Hands I'll count Pikachu's ears, too.

    I can get into the comparison of Cloud with Trunks, but the other two? That is just comparing personalities you see in all series. Goku is not a mouse, and Vegeta is not a hedgehog. And since when does Sonic have a destructive personality? :P

    Re. Sonic: Well, not deliberately destructive, but he does end up plowing through a bunch of stuff in his adventures, not just Badniks. Re. Pikachu: His electric attacks can be kinda-sorta DBZ-esque (not so much the ones in Smash, though), plus one of his taunts resembles "powering up". Re. CF: True, but he's not Super—just Saiyan. :<P Re. "not mice or hedgehogs": So? Trunks ain't fully human.

    Heh, how could I forget about Lucario? He doesn't go blonde, but he Mega Evolves, so he's…SSJ4 Goku? I suppose that makes Pikachu de-aged Goku (despite the species difference). Guess that makes four. But why not go farther? Let's call Shadow Broly, even though he doesn't go Super in Smash. (Who Silver would be, I have no clue.)

    Trunks not being 'fully' human only means he's more comparable to Cloud. Mind you, Cloud isn't fully human either. For Goku and Vegeta even Donkey Kong would be a better comparison than Pikachu and Sonic. :P

    You'd really compare Sonic with Vegeta? He's more in line with Shadow. Also, I wouldn't call Trunks emo. He's just dead set on his mission and is openly friendly with others. Plus, I don't think Cloud got his emo attitude until Kingdom Hearts and/or Advent Children.

    no fat majin buu = kirby comparison? anyway sonic has more comparisons to dbz:super sonic=super sayain tails=gohan/krillian knuckles=piccolo shadow=vegeta silver=trunks most of these are cosident except the super form is inspired by super sayain and silver based on trunks they both come from bad futures.

    Heh, sorry; bad memory of stuff I'm not even all that into. Trunks and Cloud are more "serious" than "emo", I suppose. As for Sonic, no Saiyan, least of all Goku, is really "witty" like him, unless Pan's got a barb or two (never watched DBGT). Vegeta's the best match I could make (plus he wears blue, just as Sonic IS blue).

    @timid Not bad. Maybe add Dr. Eggman=Dr. Gero? The Tails=Gohan/Krillin comparison's a little shaky, though—despite Gohan's smarts, neither he nor Krillin are particularly mechanically inclined, which is a pretty big part of Tails's character. And it was young Goku, a relative dope, who, out of all of the DB characters, first flew helicopter-style. I wonder how much of Sonic Team were/are DB fans…

    i think they are... sonic(1991)6 emeralds. then came sonic 2,sega added 1more emerald, to turn into super sonic (year 1992) 7 emeralds=7 dragon balls. huh...

    Not to mention: Angel Island=Kami's lookout. Super Emeralds=Namekian Dragon Balls. Chaos Control=Instant Transmission (or maybe Guldo's Time Freeze). Tails's Emerald Locator (Sonic Riders)=Bulma's Dragon Radar. Anyway, I wonder if Sonic Team intended to have seven Emeralds from the start, considering that they work a miracle of sorts in Sonic 1's good ending.

    @joep Thanks. I mainly remember FF7—what little I played of the initial PC release, anyway—as being dark and depressive all around, from the cast to the art style. On top of that, the music, though well-composed and competently arranged, sounds like it uses a cheap low-quality MIDI sound set that shames the game's CD format—a sort of musical Uncanny Valley.

    Yeah, it was a shame the sound quality of the game was kinda poor. But not everyone in FF7 is depressive. :P If I recall correctly, the only one who had a downtime next to Cloud was Barret. When he got confronted with his past.

    @joep To be fair, it's been quite some time since I played FF7, and I never got past the first disc (of four for the first PC version, if memory serves), so I spent relatively little time outside of Midgar. By contrast, I'd played FF6 to death, and that game's color palette and music seemed more varied than FF7's, which might've left a more lasting and brighter impression of FF6 on me.

    Anyway, I guess if there is a point to this thread, it's that Smash already has enough Saiyanesque characters—it doesn't need Goku, even if he were legal. It needs Vegeta to furiously beat the tar out of all of those biters, then blow them to Kingdom Come. FINAL FLASH! :<P
