One has to wonder, who or what lived in Cauldros before the events of Xenoblade Chronicles X? Clearly something very technologically advanced, if the Forgotten Mining Frigates are anything to go by, which narrows it down to whatever L's species is, or something that's been long extinct. Probably the latter.
