    A senpai/sempai is someone (usually older and the opposite gender) who one looks up to, and often is in love with. If you Ship someone, you want them to have a romantic relationship. (ship comes from relationship) E.g.... You might ship Naruto and Hinata.

    senpai or sempai can also mean someone who is older than you and in school if they were in a higher grade than you you could refer to them as senpai or someone you admire or respect
