I really don't care about the lack of a story mode.

For me, the SSE was good for one thing: CD farming. Which is something Crazy Orders also provides, but more reliably. Smash Run also gives the cathartic enemy hoard beatdown gameplay. Anything it did for me has been replaced by modes that do what it did better. I also don't care about cutscenes. The trailers look good enough.

    The Subspace Emissary certainly wasn't perfect, but I thought it was still pretty enjoyable. To me, the lack of a single-player adventure mode (whether it's like Brawl's or Melee's) is the one real complaint I have about this otherwise incredible game.

    Smash Run is only for the 3DS version and doesn't hold a candle to the SSE. Also Brawl's SSE is not a good way to farm CDs. Just make a custom stage with a wall and treadmill going into it, then turn on Sandbags with no other items so only stickers and CDs spawned when you hit them. This was known as a CD/sticker factory. SSE and things like Boss Rush were fun to play with friends.

    Yeah. And I liked Subspace but even without it this game is great.
