    Of course!Although,you could have trouble with the first two gym leaders,but you can train the other pokemon you have.I had Charmander and I defeated Brock,and I'm still training my Pikachu for Misty's pokemon,you get the point.

    I had trouble finding him too,but Pikachu is just uncommon to run into.Yes,you can find one in Viridian Forest,I got impatient,but I still kept looking until I finally found one.
