Sakurai should've gave Dark Pit and Lucina a better moveset.

Dark Pit barely has any differences from Pit, and Lucina just shares the same moveset with Marth. But Sakurai decided to waste time giving them movesets instead of just making them different from the original characters. This is why we shouldn't have complaints in the first place!

I agree that they should've had their movesets developed better, though so do everyone else's. But complaints are a good thing to do when done responsibly, constructively and not just out of bent-up frustration. There's a difference between being angry for not understanding why something does/doesn't happen and being angry because you know why but can't manage to overcome or change it as it is.

  • I have a moveset Lucina could use and as for Dark Pit, I think you've seen my post about it

  • "Dark Pit and Lucina needs a new moveset" but what about Ganondorf he's had the same moves as Captain Falcon since Melee.

  • Ganondorf, same thing, but I just see minor differences, but still, I see a lot similarities. But mostly Lucina and Dark Pit, they barely even have differences with Marth and Pit. Variety of characters in Smash do need better movesets also*cough*Diddy Kong*cough*. Complaints without explaination just makes me mad, I only accept complaints with explaintory feelings.

  • That's why if characters like Lucina, Dark Pit, and Ganondorf had their own moveset then nobody can call them "clones" anymore. But Dark Pit's Up Special will still need to remain the same as Pit's.

  • Simply put, they couldn't have without delaying the game further. A clone character, as Sakurai put it, takes roughly the work equivalent to 1/7th of a full-fledged, built-from-the-ground-up character. These characters were originally going to be alts, but they had some spare time, so they made slight differences and gave them their own spot on the Character Select Screen.

  • That same spare time wasn't enough for greater differentiation, though, let alone a full character.

  • Meh, I think for Dark Pit's Up~B, it should be Pit's Brawl Up~B, if it's possible. Custom Specials still won't help. Why? Because some characters SHARE the same Custom Moves, which I find that pretty unhelpful. Semi-Clones and Clones don't get as much as respect from original characters, but some Semi~clones are considered as clones*cough*Lucas*cough*, which makes me pretty upset.

  • Pit's Brawl Up-B was changed because it was too OP. And in my opinion, there perfect as they are. In Kid Icarus, Dark Pit is the Dark Clone of Pit, so having him be a clone is Smash was a smart move, sane thing with Lucena.

Semi-clones are still clones. Just, you know, semi so. Calling a character a clone isn't exactly an insulting or degrading thing, since the way the characters are developed and their starting point in said development are just different. What IS degrading is when you know a character hasn't received as much development time and fundamentals as others to stand up as well as they do.

  • I honestly think the similarities are part of Lucina's and Dark Pit's character from Fire Emblem Awakening and Kid Icarus Uprising, respectively.

  • I'm not saying that calling clones clones is an insult. I mean, yeah I do like Dark Pit's moveset, but how is it different from Pit? The only things that are different between Pit and Dark Pit, is the personality, the color, the arrows, the bow, the Side-B, and the Final Smash. Sure it is like that in Kid Icarus: Uprising, but at least give his moveset a little tweak.

Useage of different weapons with variably different effects would have been the way to go. They do use different weapons (except for Guardian Orbitar), but even then they're not much different at all in practice and function.
