Best early-game bird/rodent/insect Pokémon? This isn't taking Hidden Abilities into account, so if you say Talonflame for any reason other than its design I will be very upset

and by "insect Pokémon" I mean the butterflies/moths/bees, sorry I couldn't be more clear Bird: Staraptor. Swellow is pretty cool too Rodent: None of the rodents are particularly useful in battle, so I'd have to say Bibarel due to the sheer amount of HMs it can learn. Runner-up is Linoone Insect: Probably Butterfree or Vivillon. I want to like Dustox but its stats are so horrible that I can't

wait, does Hyper Fang even have a high critical hit rate? I thought it flinched or something but yeah I guess Raticate in Gen 1 does crit a lot since it's decently fast

no, but it'll probably outspeed most pokemon early game, so it's pretty likely for a crit
