Alright, what is the deal with the zelda timeline?! First it was all like, why is link constantly going on quest with zelda who acts like its her first time meeting him, but now its like, three whole timelines, YEAAAAAAH. And now its all like, where will thw next game take place and stuff. I love zelda as much as everyone else, I really do, and its easy to get into the series because of how

  • almost every game takes place in there own universe, but once you really want to understand more about these characters, you will want to get int the differnt timelines, an trust me, it sucks. Its no terrible, but holy microwave nintendo, chill for a moment m'kay?

  • Well, assuming this isn't a subtle attempt at trolling... There are different Link's and Zeldas. Most games feature a new Link who's reincarnated with the same spirit, and a new Zelda who's a blood relative of previous Zeldas. There are often centuries between games.

  • Another attitude is do what I do and ignore the timeline, take every game as its own adventure without worrying how it fits into the larger story. The timeline was intended as an afterthought by the developers anyway. 3 posts left

  • Yeah I know. But you forgot about the timelines. Every game takes place in one of three timelines, an there might even be a foth one with the release of Zelda U. Its just complicated man.

  • Well the three different timelines branch off of the original timeline. Whey aren't completely separated, they're connected by a common source. @Cody: I suppose there's nothing wrong with that. I enjoy the timeline, but I can understand why other may want to just ignore it.

  • The timeline is totally forced. After all the YouTube/online talk about it, Nintendo just tried their best to connect it all. I remember an old issue of EGM (yep, an actual old school print magazine) where someone from the development team said they looked at the Zelda universe like James Bond. Each entry is its own universe, where some characters overlap, but there is absolutely no connection.

  • But with that people can't endlessly debate everthing. I have the HH book and even I don't get all the connections between the games! Lol
