  • The irony is that a combination like that is terrible for trying to keep Spiny Shells away from you. If you use the brakes to slow down and let someone else pass you, the low acceleration basically keeps you from recovering your speed quickly.

  • M&SG - It's not that the stats on that combo are bad. It's the fact that it's overused and that most people don't know how to use them wisely and properly. They only use them b/c they see real pros use them, and they think that they can get easy wins with that combo alone.

  • i agree with both of you. it's just that, in my honest opinion: a true pro shouldn't have to constantly rely, on an overrated kart such as the Monster B-Dasher. and over 80% of that meta alone flat out quits when they're beaten fair & square. which is y im glad that the monster wheels in 8 no longer have the ability to stray away, from the main track without items like mushrooms and such

  • I think what can also be baffling is seeing a combo like that dominate a track that mostly involves underwater racing. The B Dasher and Monster tires really hurt the sea speed stat, so you'd think that they'd be at a big disadvantage at Wario Shipyard.

  • A true pro could also maneuver through all of the tracks with ease, if well trained and practiced. But yeah, relying on a combo that seems to be OP and only that doesn't make you a pro. You also have to consider your weaknesses with each character and combo you choose, as well as the course's environment, the obstacles and pedestrians, items, etc., and how well strategized you are.

  • Jonathan: i agree. it gets tiresome. -.- M&SG: i sometimes have that issue, but for the most part i can hold my ground & usually stay on their tail or surpass them. 〆マーケル: i couldn't have worded that any better. c:

  • It should also be noted that for some tracks, you're probably smarter using the Slim, Mushroom, or Wood tires for their better handling stats. You're more likely to have an easier time handling Waluigi Pinball and Airship Fortress with higher handling stats.

  • i use mushroom wheels every now & then. i prefer standard wheels, in case i have to race on terrain based courses like NBC or N64 KD...but yes, i will on very rare occasions use wheels like slim or wood. (: im a Bruiser, Standard user.
