well Mettaton is female because she is a ghost in a robot body but the body is made to kind of look like a guy and a girl they do refer to Mettaton as a 'him' or 'he' (i know non correct grammar) If u buy the key off of Catty and Bratty u can get into Mettaton's house and read her diaries (correct me if my spelling is wrong) but it reveals that she is in fact female even though the say he and him
