You know... I've ALWAYS wanted to try to learn how to read and speak Japanese, but I can't afford Rossetta Stone and I missed my chance to buy a DS game that taught some Japanese. Is there any other options out there for me?

    I use Duolingo to learn German so I was going to recommend that, but I see it doesn't have a Japanese course yet. I just Googled and saw that there's a site called Japanese-Online that seems to offer free lessons. It looks really good at a glance, but I can't say for sure because I've never used it personally. ^^;

    I happen to own Rosetta Stone Japanese. I bought it about seven years ago and it's really very good. I need to start using it again. When I had bought it they were just converting to a new version and I got a discount on the upgrade. If you ever can afford RS they have online lessons too through the software for a montly fee. It is VERY worth the money.
