I'm glad to hear Legendary Pictures are the most likely to get the film rights to make a live-action Pokémon film. The studio that brought us Godzilla in 2014 and stayed true to the original Japanese source material are sure to deliver if they do end up getting the rights.

    No, not really. I'm actually saying that because unlike most here, I here the other side out. And as for my rebuttal, the filmmakers would have to diverge away from the original source material to appeal to a wider audience. Not only gamers go to watch movies and the fact that Nintendo wants to sell the film rights shows that they know it's time to head in a different direction.

    yeah but you change too much then the mainstream crowd will be lost and the core audience will just hate it, honestly they could just release it as an animated film, it seriously doesn't need a live action adaptation.

    I'm saying that they need to diverge from it a little bit but not too far to where it's unrecognizable like The Last Airbender and Dragonball Evolution. Those were technically anime films but still, same basic principle.

    That's where practical effects and filming on-location come in. They should film in real world locations to stand in for the regions and make the pokémon CG. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, if you will.
