For a simple farming game, Harvest Moon has touched on some pretty serious topics. DEATH Death is a recurring topic in the franchise. Either your grandfather or father is dead, a woman's husband has been dead for a year, and so on. Heck, In the end of Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, your own character ends up dying of old age. How they're able to handle this topic with younger gamers is amazing.

    ALCOHOL While some games in the series try to hide it, others like FoMT openly talk about alcoholism. Manna's husband, Duke, is said to spend every night at the bar drinking. In Animal Parade, Craig spends his time sitting at a table depressed and with a glass in his hand. It's kinda obvious that he's a bit of an alcoholic. A topic like this in a game like Harvest Moon is very surprising to see.
