It doesn't take very long...The statues are all marked on your map, and all you have to do is move them aside to access the sky writing hidden underneath them.

Each statue also has a chest nearby that it can be used to access, by moving it into the proper position and using its flat top as a platform. Most of them lead to orange Rupees, two of them, I believe, contain Pieces of Beart, and one of them might also have a stamp, if I'm correct. None of it is required to progress in the story, however.
