What animation software do you recommend?

I'm thinking about trying my hand at animation. What tools/software do other artists use? Cheaper is better.

    in graphics gale the eye dropper is the right mouse button. one of my favorite things about the software. layers and pallets and all that nice stuff. also free and $20 for the full version that allows sprite sheet exports

    LOL, what? Why would Nintendo not want us talking about a 3DS app? But thanks Sakura. @Neopancho: I have a Vita TV, I can't draw on that, LOL. @Deckard: They might have rules, but they've got to be less strict than Nintendo

    Yeah, using the 5 layers for the 3D effect is really cool. I can't think of anything exactly wrong with the app (well, more tools are always welcome!), maybe it's even the best one available but for some reason i don't like it too much ^^u...

    @Neopancho: it doesn't have a smudge/blend tool, that's my biggest disappointment. I don't know how to shade without blending... I mean I airbrush too, but that can only get me so far. @Sakura: same

    Thanks, I watched some other artists to see how they did it. And the inkling was just a learning experience... But I'm happy with how Shimakaze turned out!

    Thanks SRReshiram! I do have a drawing tablet, but I prefer to draw on my 3DS. I guess I should try Flipnote since I own it?
