Going to post an idea for Mega Hydreigon that I wrote up last night. It's going to take up several comments, so be prepared for that.

  • Base stats: 92/135/110/165/110/88 [BST: 700] Typing: Dark/Steel (I know Steel/Dragon would make more sense flavor-wise, but there's no precedent for primary typings of Pokémon being replaced upon Mega Evolution and Steel/Dragon is too good of a typing for something with those stats) Ability: Delta Force (Divides the Base Power of this Pokémon's moves by 3. The move will then hit three times

  • using the new Base Power. Accuracy checks and secondary effects are determined on each hit.) Design utilizes elements from Hydreigon's original, battle-tank-inspired design, hence the Steel typing. Mega Hydreigon's ability Delta Force might seem useless at first, but it allows it to break past Substitutes with its normal damaging moves with ease, making it an excellent stallbreaker. That said, it

  • also acts as a power inhibitor of sorts: Delta Force prevents M-Hydreigon from using moves like Draco Meteor and Superpower effectively due to the stat drops from both moves applying for the second and third hits of the moves. In addition to this, moves with low accuracy (think Focus Blast) will have their effective Base Powers reduced because chances are not all three hits of the move will land

  • at the same time. M-Hydreigon does reap significant benefits from its Ability other than breaking Substitutes easily, however: It has access to Charge Beam, a move that damages and can increase Special Attack at the same time. This move is often overlooked, and for good reason: It has 90% accuracy and the chance of its secondary effect activating is only 70%. Despite its shortcomings normally,

  • Charge Beam would be very powerful when combined with Delta Force, as the chance of it not activating at least once upon use is small, and more often than not it'll give a boost equal or greater than that of Nasty Plot. Given that Mega Hydreigon is a special attacker without any good special boosting normally, this works greatly in its favor, and compensates for the general low power of its moves

  • due to the impracticality of Draco Meteor. Mega Hydreigon isn't without its flaws, though: While it has good defensive stats and an alright typing, it's also quite slow for an attacker meaning that many other attackers can capitalize on its 4x weakness to Fighting-type moves such as Close Combat. Despite this, though, as well as its inability to make use of its high base 135 Attack stat, it's

    Yeahs0
  • still a force to be reckoned with. also it's the PARAFLINCHER OF THE FUTURE with a 49% flinch Dark Pulse or something (certifiably less broken than Mega Kangaskhan: Kang had the equivalent of a 196 base Attack stat without Attack EVs and 212 with 252 and also Seismic Toss, whereas this has only 165, is slower, and has more weaknesses)

    Yeahs0
  • Still gets beaten by Primal Groudon
