Spoiler-free review

I just finished this game yesterday and it turned out to be much better then I expected, so I thought I'd write a review for anyone out there who hasn't played it yet. I won't include any spoilers in this review, so feel safe to read on if you haven't played yet. While I'm not normally one for RPGs that use turn-based battle-styles like this, as I find it to be very »

  • » repetitive and not interactive enough for my taste, but the way this game combines turn-based battling with real-time intervention is very innovative. It took me a little while to get the hang of it, but it's pretty fun once you do. And the difficulty increases at a very adaptable pace, so you have a good amount of time to adjust to the battle-system before it would become to intense for a »

There is also an increased difficulty mode for experienced players seeking a greater challenge, so Child of Light is very well-rounded challenge-wise. I think beginners and experts alike should be able to enjoy it. The story is pretty good... Although »

However, I do feel that the way all the dialogue is spoken in rhyme kind of makes the scripting feel a lot less emotional then it should've »

The characters are still likable and the story is still heartening, but just not nearly as much as they should have been, which is a little disappointing. I also feel that the ending was rather rushed. There was »

  • » definitely some missed opportunity for some character development, but none of these complaints are anything major. They're nothing that would ruin the experience. And of course, one of the most notable traits of this game is it's artistic quality. The storybook-like graphics and the epic soundtrack are quite captivating. In all, I'd say that this is definitely a game worth recommendation to »

Now, while I did say that I'm not going to give away any spoilers, but I do feel that I should give a fair warning to anyone who hasn't played yet of a certain detail that you don't want to let catch you off-guard: there is one party-member who will be »

I won't give away the plot-twist, but just so you don't waste any valuable oculi or stardust items on a character who will be permanently lost eventually, I am going to warn you of this. There are a number of times when a character will temporarily leave the party, but they'll all rejoin again soon after. But there is still one who never comes »

  • » back at all. I won't say in this review who the permanently lost character is by name, but I'll gove you one clue so you don't waste any stardust items; the character is a female. So until you've reached the event where she is permanently lost from your party, just know not to waste your stardust on a female character other then Aurora. You can still equip her with oculi, but just make sure to »

  • » remove all oculi from this character before she is lost. The party will temporarily disband and Aurora will be left momentarily alone with this character right before she is lost. Take that as your cue to immediately remove all oculi from that character while you still can! And that's it for this review. I'd give this game a score of 8/10. It's definitely worth playing at least once, IMO.
