Well My school has a weird system. In May, everyone moves up a year to let the teachers prepare for Year 7 joining us in September. Year 7-9 have sets for the classes you're in. C is top set, then it goes Y, F, L, E for bottom set and D for dyslexic people. If you're in 9C and 9Y for Welsh, then you do your GCSE for it early. Same goes for being in 9C Humanities, doing the exams early.

In a few weeks, I move up into Year 10. It's also like this not just because of preparations for Year 7, but so we can get used to our new timetables. I'm not sure if this is how other Welsh schools go but my school has weird things. :-)

Makes sense now. If Welsh is your first language you could probably pass a GCSE long before anyone who has it as a second language. Being a little bit older than you guys first thing that went through my head was " What is Humanities?" There are a lot more exams now than when I did O-Grades. At least you guys don't have to carry around a sheet of slate and chalks what with your fancy modern paper.

Humanitites is History, Geography and RE in one. Welsh GCSE for most of 9C and 9Y isn't first language though, plus I've only been learning for a few years, less time than everyone else.

Ellie's: Thanks for the explanation on humanities. My daughter is still in primary 2 so I have a lot to learn myself if I am to help her along the way. Are you a languages buff. I have a Miiverse friend who is really into languages especially from Asia.
