The only reason I consider the selection of Fire-type Pokémon in Ruby and Sapphire better than that of Diamond and Pearl is simply because there's more of them. Seriously, all of the Fire-types in R/S barring Blaziken and Ninetales are borderline unusable in-game due to their awful Speed and not-great defensive stats... but I guess it's better than only having two option despite their bad quality.

  • Why did you even mention Ninetales? It's not even a Gen 3 mon, and no, being usable in R/S doesn't count

  • okay, if you want to count only Pokémon that were introduced in Ruby and Sapphire, then there are only three options but that's not what I was doing here, I'm counting Pokémon available in the games before obtaining the National Pokédex regardless of whether they were introduced in those games or not so no, it does count for the purpose I'm considering
