    If you do the g rank Tundra Harvest Tour you can mine up meldspar ore from a mining node in area 4. The node is always there and yeilds meldspar fairly regularly.

    Meldspar's easiest to get at the G rank Volcano. The tundra also drops them, but it's incredibly rare there.

    I wouldn't worry about Tru Armor Spheres, though. Their defense boost is low, and you need so many of them to max out your armor.

    I figured it would be more common in volcano, but since I don't have access to volcano mining yet I knew exactly where to go in tundra to get some. I've gotten quite a lot from that spot myself.

    DLC for Granny Go-To's shop. If you have the DLC, she will occasionally have Armor Stones for sale.

    I wouldn't even bother trying to find them anyother way. I'd just check with granny after every mission until she has 8 pages of inventory then grab a stack of 99 armor stones. Easiest way to get them

    I only know for sure its on Wii U. I would guess both though. It doesn't appear often so just be sure to check after every mission.

    If you're in a hurry you can do paw pass missions at the port and check after each one. Its worth it though to catch her expanded inventory. Its a lot faster than the alternative.
