    The key quests to move on to hunter rank 3 are hunting nibelsnarf, diablos, gigginox,and agnaktor, so you should start of with one of those.

    if he does gigginox does his poison mist attack and you have weapon drawn the only way for you to dodge is use the rolls small invulnerably period
