After you beat the boss, you try to leave. Ray will tell you to save all the villagers still in the well (which I highly recommend doing). You are free to save and go to the Inn before talking to Ray.

remember those holes you couldnt get in go into those save all 6 villagers by killing the face huggers and you will earn the spell renew. also if you choose the carpenter on the far right.

when you choose him theres a twon you can buy shave ice and 'cook' three to make 1 gutsbl. 2 gutsbl and 2 shave ice gives you gold bar which is 6k zenny you make out like a bandit in this game.
