    re you talking about an element phial or dragon phial? Any axe with an element phial should already come with an element, so awaken will have no effect.

    On a dragon phial, I believe awaken simply gives it the exact same amount of dragon in axe mode, making the only difference between sword and axe mode the combos.

    For that weapon, Awaken basically means you don't have to go into sword mode to have dragon element damage on your weapon.
